Wring Out My Clothes
Such love does
the sky now pour,
that whenever I stand in a field,
I have to wring out the light
when I get
home.

At first the yellow flowers seemed overcome and droopy from rain, but looking closer helped me see that they are standing upright, hats off, acknowledging the joy of those in pink uniforms across the green fence twirling upraised arms and cheering the sun’s breakthrough, dancing like Francis would.

Love That! I inherited a garden statue of St Francis. He does bring love and light into my garden.

I love seeing your flowers. The heat doesn’t appear to be hurting them. So glad you got a nice rain.

I was only following St Francis’s metaphor of the sun pouring down like rain. We had no precipitation of the water sort!

Aw. So good. We bought a second round of flowers at the hardware store yesterday. Denver daisies and pinwheel petunias. I watched a movie called The Greenfingers and it inspired me to keep on even though it’s hot.
Thank you for the Johnny Appleseed info. YOU are the best, best, best.

You do find the most wonderful poems. This one will be written in my commonplace book. My echinacea plant is pink, I rather fancy your yellow one.
