Shame is turned into glory.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
-Galatians 6:14

Thy Cross is for all men a well of blessings
and a cause of thanksgiving.

Thereby for them that believe in thee,
weakness is turned into strength,

shame into glory, and death into life.

  1. Nevil Shute wrote A Town Like Alice? I think of On the Beach when his name is mentioned, but never read it. I think it’s apocalyptic, which caused me to put him in some sort of category that A Town Like Alice doesn’t fit in. 😀 I saw the latter on tv years ago, with Bryan Brown. Liked it, but don’t really remember it.

    1. The movie of “Alice” leaves out half of the story, though I enjoyed it as well. The book is just wonderful. It’s historical fiction, based on an event that didn’t happen exactly the way it does in the book, but Shute had heard the story and thought it was true. But true or not, it is such a warm-hearted tale and the characters are lovable. It has a sub-plot involving the main narrator and his relationship to the heroine, which is awfully sweet.
