The bubble in the wind.

THE BUBBLE IN THE WIND

The bubble in the wind
flies gently by.
Over the trees
and into the sky.
Inside the clouds
the bubbles flies.
Into the wind
the bubble cries.
Next to a bird
who nips it flat,
and flies to the ground
with a great big SPLAT!

  1. This is an amazing post on a lot of levels, especially coming from a 6-year-old–the words she uses and just the thought process. When I used those bubble blowing kits I never followed where the bubbles went (though a lot of them exploded almost immediately) but was on to the next right away. She is a very imaginative little person.

  2. When I was working at a different marina a couple of months ago, I always encountered swarms of floating bubbles on a certain street. I finally decided that someone, somewhere, had a bubble machine, but I never tried to track down the source. It was more fun to drive through them and watch them pop against my car windows. SPLAT!

  3. I’d say that that little 6 year old has a talent for poetry.

The poem brought to my mind another poem that I learned years ago. It was by Henry King and called Sic Vita. Something about the bubble dying, I suppose.
