is that the laws of nature explain the universe for us.
The laws of nature describe the universe,
they describe the regularities.
But they explain nothing.”

Oh my, this is a wonderful quote. I am bravely attempting to read Alasdair MacIntyre right now and this is what he’s saying to us, if I had to put it in a nutshell.

Beauty such as Monet reveals is one of those things that can’t be explained!

I know little of this philosopher, but this is a wise statement!

I should perhaps hesitate to dispute such a learned philosopher, but I would beg to suggest that the laws of nature can indeed explain much about the universe if only we have the spiritual eyes, heart, and maturity to SEE.

Susan, I just read this quote that brought me back to your comment here (thank you!), over which I’ve been musing the last several days ❤
“In Science, we have been reading only the notes to a poem; in Christianity we find the poem itself.”
—C. S. Lewis
More to chew on all the time!
