Odd and balmy day…

Frost is forecast for next week, but today, this is what it looks like at my place. I’m picking early asparagus, and spotted two Christmas cactus blooms. It’s perfectly balmy. I should be taking advantage of the warmth outdoors to clean out the greenhouse and set up its heater for when winter descends again.

  1. After a very cold spurt it has been almost balmy here besides. The weather next week will turn cold once again.
I look forward to getting thru it quickly and seeing the sun for much longer periods!!

  2. A warm spell in January followed sooner or later by more wintery temperatures might not be the best for our plants but we might as well enjoy the warmth while it stays around.

  3. My word, is that temperature right? Things will be popping out for sure in your garden with those temps. And what a luxury crop you have there, mighty fine eating ahead for you.

I was happy to get a text recently that our youngest and his family will be visiting California for the first time this summer, flying into San Francisco and then visiting Yosemite National Park, hoping to visit as many of the national parks they can while my granddaughters are growing up.

      1. They are all so excited about this trip that will be so different from the ones they usually take to the Atlantic coast. Daniel sent me links to the canvas tent area they have reserved that will give them so much more time in the park than if they were driving in each day. They are a camping family anyway so I know this will be fun for them. They will also get to reunite with a cousin and his family in Sausalito, which makes my sister and I very happy.

  4. We had those ridiculously warm days, too, but now in the midst of that series of storms. Discovered that one of my large pots doesn’t drain well (grr) so it’s covered up while we anticipate the 5-8″ rain. Best wishes to you for that greenhouse clean out!
