What a thought-provoking phrase. What does it mean?

One commentary says, “In some way, these experiences connected them to their leader, Moses, through whom God communicated with Israel.”
And the Orthodox Study Bible: “Israel’s liberation from Egypt by Moses prefigures our liberation from sin by Christ. The cloud is a symbol of the Holy Spirit; the sea, of water and baptism; the Rock, of the body of Christ, His humanity; and the spiritual drink, of Christ’s blood.”
