Red isn’t high on my list of favorite rose colors, but I have to admire the way a single red rosebush makes these front yards very classy.
It didn’t matter that the flowers on the corner above were not in good shape, as I discovered when I came in for a closer shot. As seen from the street driving by, or walking on the other side, the total effect was quite cheering.

Before I got around to putting up my reds, Kate sent me a picture taken of the front door of her building. It’s cheating, I know, to include it, because this rose is growing in Washington DC, 3,000 miles and a cultural distance from my neighborhood, but it’s such a perfect example of how a red rose can be shown to its best advantage while beautifying its whole environment. If I encountered more settings like this red would move up closer to the top of my list.

Aw! We have to wait for our splash of red to appear in rosebush form. I love these photos, GJ!

I like your red roses. The roses in Washington D.C. are lovely.
I just noticed one of my red roses are blooming. It is called Black Magic because it is supposed to be black, it is just a dark red rose. 🙂 Just like those blue ones are just purple.
Have a wonderful new week.

Red isn’t my favorite color for flowers either, but these red rose bushes do stand out.

It will be a while before any of our roses bloom up here, but I have been enjoying the roses in the city, where it’s lower and warmer. I’m not a big fan of red roses either, much preferring pinks, corals and whites, but a red rose against a white background is stunning.

Red is always a good accent color to my thinking. And if the roses are red and smell divine, even better. The red ones can usually be counted upon to have a wonderful fragrance I think. I’m no expert on roses and they are not in my garden but I do love seeing them around.

I love that last one! Red is also my least favorite, like red delicious apples are my least favorite. But it does give such a pop of color.
