“Of all modern notions, the worst is this: that domesticity is dull. Inside the home, they say, is dead decorum and routine; outside is adventure and variety. But the truth is that the home is the only place of liberty, the only spot on earth where a man can alter arrangements suddenly, make an experiment or indulge in a whim. The home is not the one tame place in a world of adventure; it is the one wild place in a world of rules and set tasks.”
― G.K. Chesterton

This is indeed another mined treasure quote that you have kindly brought forth…and of course I love the picture of my dear young friend.

Very true – as is “Home is where the heart is”.

How cute you were, you sweet young little homebody, after my own heart. I feel the same way ‘bout home.

“But housekeeping is fun. It is one job where you enjoy the results right along as you work. You may work all day washing and ironing, but at night you have the delicious feeling of sunny clean sheets and airy pillows to lie on. If you clean, you sit down at nightfall with the house shining and faintly smelling of wax, all yours to enjoy right then and there. And if you cook—that creation you lift from the oven goes right to the table.”

I have always loved this quote! Home is the one wild place there really is– so true. Where we can put the carpet on the ceiling if we so choose (says Chesterton). Home is the place where we are free-est in all of the world and where we can truly be ourselves. Also, I love seeing you way back in the 80s! xSusan
